Thursday, July 13, 2017. As usual, every Thursday, I get up at 5 AM to get out on a group bike ride. Just because it’s my birthday, I wasn’t going to be lazy and sleep in…if anything…since it was my birthday, it motivated me and I could tell I gave a little bit more effort out there on the road. I felt like I wanted to prove to myself, that even though I am another year older, I could still be faster, better, and stronger.

Work was work, my co-workers took me out to lunch at Miguel’s down in Carlsbad. Pretty funny, of course, everyone’s food came out on time except for mine! They literally forgot to make my food. By the time my food came everyone was pretty much done. But the restaurant ended up giving my meal free and gave me a $25 gift certificate. So it all worked out in the end.
After work, a small group of my close friends met up for dinner at Tajima for some ramen. I love me some ramen, especially when I get to drink some Sapporo and Sake before hand. Best of all, we ended up going to Up To You Cafe for some waffles, brick toast, and some milk teas.

I took the following day off (Friday) to head up to Pasadena early for the weekend. One of the reasons why I love July so much is that we get to celebrate birthdays the entire month. July 14th is Kuya Jimmy’s birthday and July 19th is Jalen’s birthday.
We got to Pasadena around noon and my sister already had a delicious lunch waiting for us. My favorite type of food…Filipino food!

We digested a bit and waited for our cousins to come over. We played video games, ate dessert, and sang happy birthday to all the birthday boys.

We waited for the weather to cool down and went to Universal Studios! We haven’t been to Universal as a family since I was maybe 7 or 8 years old. I remember going with my cousins and watching the Miami Vice show, being scared of Beetlejuice, and riding on E.T. (remember how ET would say your name at the end of the ride). I’d have to say times have definitely changed. The park is filled with Despicable Me, Transformers, and of course Harry Potter.

…good times…the rest of the weekend…we did the usual. Eat, eat, and eat. My sister, Cathy, and I did make it to Soulcycle Saturday morning and enjoyed some healthy smoothies. Before heading back home to San Diego, we did cherish the last few moments hanging out at the Gomez’s house. They are moving to their new house at the end of the month. Although this was just their temporary home, we sure did a lot of eating, playing, and watching movies here.
