Lent

Lent is the period of 40 days which comes before Easter in the Christian calendar.

Beginning on Ash Wednesday, Lent is a season of reflection and preparation before the celebrations of Easter. By observing the 40 days of Lent, Christians replicate Jesus Christ’s sacrifice and withdrawal into the desert for 40 days.

To be honest, my life has had a major gap in faith the past couple of years. Like politics, I don’t plan on sharing to much here, but in short…I don’t agree with everything that the Catholic church preaches…but there a lot of things about the church that I agree with and would want to raise Huddy as a Catholic. The good thing about church, there are many different Catholic priests who preach a certain way and I am free to choose which church to attend or not to attend. With no real explanation, this lent has re-energized me to grow once more in my faith. I hope to reconnect with the church and community and teach Hudson valuable lessons I learned growing up.

…So for this lent season…my sacrifice/withdrawl for 40 days is a secret. The challenge for me is to not share this publicly and see if others notice or not.

Welcome Home Dave!

Honor to the soldier and sailor everywhere, who bravely bears his country’s cause. Honor, also, to the citizen who cares for his brother in the field and serves, as he best can, the same cause. – Abraham Lincoln

To celebrate Dave’s return from being deployed, we had a little get together at the house. As usual, plenty of food, good laughs, games, and quality time with friends.

Other things to note…

My new breakfast recipe (perfect for cyclists), muffin egg omelette. Super simple, My sister (Ate Jay) reminded me about this when we spent the week up at her house. All you do is mix 9 eggs, your meat of choice, your veggie of choice, some salt & pepper…whip that all up in a large mixing bowl and spread evenly in a muffin tray. Bake for 20 minutes at 350F.

I store these in a container and warm 1 or 2 up each morning during the week

We also had the Bayacas over to prep for Sydney Rae’s 18th Birthday party coming up on March 10th. I’m in charge of the photo booth. Going with the Greek Goddess look.
