Tết – The Year of the Rooster

People born in the Year of Rooster according to Chinese zodiac have many excellent characteristics, such as being honest, bright, communicative and ambitious. Most of them are born pretty or handsome, and prefer to dress up. In daily life, they seldom rely on others. However, they might be enthusiastic about something quickly, but soon be impassive. Thus, they need to have enough faiths and patience to insist on one thing.

Most of them are born pretty or handsome…hilarious.

This past weekend was jam packed. We got ready to celebrate Tết (Vietnamese New Year), I got a new drone, saw the Thrillgood fellas, and watched my first soccer match.

First thing first, my new drone. Wow, this thing is amazing. I didn’t realize how steady the camera/gimbal on the MavicPro is. I felt like it was Christmas all over again, took me back to the good old days…opening boxes and reading instructions and charging all the necessary components waiting anxiously for that red charging light to turn green.

Fits in my hand! Form factor over everything else

Cathy was definitely a skeptic until I showed her the simple footage I captured in our neighborhood. I didn’t take much pictures, only video and I was pressed for time since Cathy wanted boba…but this was the very first shot I took of the Dizons. I honestly can’t wait for our next trip/adventure and being able to take some unique shots.

Felt like I was 10 years old again

So my maiden voyage of the drone lasted only 10 minutes or so. We had to get boba before celebrating  Tết with the fam.

So for those friends and family that are curious what we do for Tết…

The first day of Tet is reserved for the immediate family. Children wear their new clothes, give their elders the traditional Tết greetings before receiving the lucky money from them in exchange. The traditional greetings are “Chúc Mừng Năm Mới” (Happy New Year) and “Cung Chúc Tân Xuân” (gracious wishes of the new spring). People also wish each other prosperity and luck.

We match…sort of.

I definitely had one to many tequilla shots during Tết. I was supposed to get up early the next morning and go for a bike ride…but yes, lets just say I stayed in bed for an extra hour or two.

The weekend was coming to an end, but not before I got to watch my first soccer match! The men’s national team versus Serbia. It was a good game that ended in typical soccer fashion…a tie (0-0). It was fun hanging out with the guys and possibly being in Qualcomm stadium for the last time.
