Am i weak…would i be able to order the epidural now? – Cathy ~about 30 minutes sitting in triage~

Wow, I will never know how painful contractions are, but boy do I have to hand it to all women who have had babies and gone through this. I’ve never seen Cathy in so much pain. It was like her body was being twisted in the inside, I felt helpless as I couldn’t help her in any way except to give her moral support. “breathe….breathe slowly…you’re okay…” these were the words I repeated in the early hours of the morning. We definitely had some A+ nurses on shift…thanks to Karla and Hilary for keeping us calm and comfortable.

At around 3AM, the anesthesiologist (Dr. Omar Kuwaja), gave Cathy an early Christmas gift – EPIDURAL. O and that epidural sure did work. Cathy couldn’t feel any of the contractions anymore and was able to smile for one photo with me.

She was about 5 cm dilated at around 4AM and Baby Hudson looked really happy on the monitor.

It was time to get some shut eye as Cathy needed to save her energy for when it’s time to push.

I got all about 2-3 hours of sleep and woke up to a pleasant, but no surprise…my mom!

She works at this hospital, she’s worked here for 26 years (only 3 weeks at the new location)…she hooked Cathy and I up with some VIP treatment. Thanks Mom.

Majority of the day, Cathy and I took little naps and were visited by my sister-in-laws and Cathy’s BFF Leah B.

By 3:30PM, Cathy was fully dilated and Hudson’s head was getting low. The Nurses suggested that Cathy Labor Down a couple of hours until she started to feel more pressure and the need to push.

Tuesday December 13th 2016 at 5:57PM Hudson Jeffrey Dizon was born.

He weighed 8.4 pounds and measured 21 inches tall. He also came out with a full set of hair.

What a whirlwind of emotions…Cathy and I couldn’t have been more thrilled to finally have him in our hands. The next few hours, Hudson had the routine checkups and bath, and of course…had plenty of visitors. Welcome to the world Baby Hudson! Mommy and Daddy love you so much.
